Hurghada to Luxor with Hot Air Balloon Ride
2 Days

Transfer to Luxor - East Thebes

At around 5:00 AM, you will be picked up from your hotel in Hurghada by Mukwano Travel. During the approximately four-hour bus ride, enjoy a scenic route through the eastern desert and the Nile Valley to Luxor. Upon arrival, your guide for the day will be waiting for you.

Your first stop in Luxor will be the monumental Karnak Temple complex, the largest of its kind in the world. Here, you can follow in the footsteps of Ramses II, one of the most powerful pharaohs of all time. After exploring the Karnak Temple, you will be taken to your pre-booked 5-star hotel, where you can relax before we pick you up for lunch. Enjoy authentic Egyptian dishes at a good local restaurant.

Another highlight of the day is the Avenue of Sphinxes, which has now been fully uncovered and stretches 2,700 meters to the impressive Luxor Temple in the heart of the city. As you visit this beautiful temple, imagine the processions that took place along this nearly three-kilometer-long avenue over 3,000 years ago!

As the heat of the day cools in the evening, the real life in Egypt's cities comes alive. Now you can choose: stroll through the bazaar and do some bargaining (we’re happy to give tips!), or book through us the impressive sound and light show at the Karnak Temple. Here, all the pharaohs who contributed to the construction of this magnificent complex share their stories as you explore the temple piece by piece in the dark.

Day 2: West Thebes Hot Air Balloon Ride

To start the day, we offer you one of the most breathtaking excursions in Luxor. Not for late risers, as a hot air balloon ride allows you to enjoy a spectacular sunrise. As you slowly ascend into the morning sky, you will be treated to a dreamy view: the green banks of the Nile Valley stretch as far as the eye can see, Luxor awakens nearby, and the sights you will visit today glide slowly beneath you. On the itinerary are the Colossi of Memnon, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, and Deir el-Medina—an experience filled with tranquility and beauty.

The "Big Four of Egyptian history" includes the Pyramids of Giza, the Karnak Temple in Luxor, Abu Simbel in Aswan, and the Valley of the Kings in West Thebes (near Luxor). You will see the latter in the afternoon, following in the footsteps of Howard Carter, the discoverer of Tutankhamun’s tomb. You will visit three of the most beautiful tombs there. At the end of this crescent-shaped valley rises a pyramid-shaped mountain, which marks the next stop on your sightseeing tour: the Temple of Hatshepsut, also visible from Luxor. Like Ramses II, Hatshepsut ruled during the New Kingdom and was a highly successful queen, one of the few female pharaohs.

For lunch, we’ll head to a charming restaurant along the banks of the Nile, where you can enjoy a hearty meal and relax. After a ride past various temple ruins, we will reach our destination in the afternoon: Deir el-Medina, known as the "village of the artisans," who left us the beautiful tombs in the Valley of the Kings. These artisans were highly paid and respected specialists in ancient Egypt. Alongside their work on royal tombs, they found time to work on their own tombs, some of which are well-preserved and adorned with stunning paintings.

After a final short stop at the Colossi of Memnon, filled with beautiful memories, you will be taken back to the Red Sea in Hurghada. Let yourself be enchanted by the heart of ancient Egypt, the former Thebes, and pay us a visit in Luxor!
