From Hurghada to Cairo by bus |
2 days

Day 1

Your day begins early at 03:00 when Mukwano Travel picks you up from your hotel in Hurghada in a comfortable air-conditioned car or minibus. The journey to Egypt’s capital takes about five hours, passing along the stunning Red Sea coastline and through the vast eastern desert. Upon arrival in Cairo, a German-speaking Egyptologist will be ready to guide and assist you throughout the excursion. Cairo, the beating heart of the country and the largest city on the African continent, consists mainly of the core cities of Cairo and Giza, with a total population of over 20 million, making it one of the largest cities in the world. The ancient city has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979.

Cairo

Upon arrival in Cairo, a city tour is on the agenda an experience that will quickly leave you in awe! The traffic in Cairo, with its diverse vehicles, initially seems overwhelming and fascinating to witness. Next, you’ll visit the world-famous pyramids at the Giza Plateau, including the majestic Sphinx. The Great Pyramid of Giza, the last remaining wonder of the ancient world, is about 4,600 years old and held the title of the world’s tallest building for over 4,000 years, with a volume of approximately 2.6 million cubic meters. Marvel at the grandeur of the three impressive pyramids of Giza, which majestically tower over nearby Cairo and still stand as testaments to the distant power of the ancient pharaohs. They are guarded by the ancient Sphinx, a hybrid creature of human and animal form, symbolizing both human wisdom and animal strength. Although Oedipus has solved its riddle, archaeologists continue to debate its exact age; it is generally attributed to Pharaoh Khafre.

Step Pyramid of Pharaoh Djose

After soaking up many new impressions, you can enjoy lunch at a typical Egyptian restaurant where local specialties are served. Following lunch, we will continue to the Saqqara necropolis, where you can visit the Step Pyramid of Pharaoh Djoser. Located about 20 km south of Cairo, Saqqara has a very different atmosphere compared to the Giza Plateau. The era of pyramid construction in Egypt began with Djoser's Step Pyramid from the 3rd Dynasty, designed and built by the famous architect Imhotep. Standing at approximately 62 meters tall, it is the ninth tallest pyramid in Egypt. After a day full of activities, it's time to relax. We have reserved a room for you at a 5-star hotel. The rest of the day and evening are at your leisure. If you wish to experience more, we offer two optional highlights: a sound and light show at the pyramids or a dinner cruise with a show on the Nile.

Day 2

Egyptian Museum,
Alabaster Mosque, and  Khan el-Khalili Bazaar

After breakfast and checking out of the hotel, your second day in Cairo begins with a visit to the Egyptian Museum. Located in the heart of the metropolis, this venerable, 120-year-old building houses thousands of exhibits that immediately immerse you in the fascinating history of Egypt. After bidding farewell to the pharaohs, you will now delve into the Arab world of Egypt: from the Citadel of Saladin and the Alabaster Mosque, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of Cairo with its numerous minarets. Of course, you can also visit the mosque. After lunch, it’s time to put your bargaining skills to the test, as haggling is a must when visiting the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar! Laden with many memories—and perhaps even souvenirs—we will take you back to your hotel by the Red Sea in the afternoon. Enjoy the return journey and reflect on the past two days!
